Pam is a patient moving and handling consultant with a particular interest in conducting person-centred moving and handling assessments and the design and implementation of work specific strategies, with more than 30 years’ experience of designing and delivering training courses to the public, private, voluntary and charitable sectors, including health, social care and education.

Professional Experience
Pam is a founding Director of Work Fit Moving and Handling Solutions Ltd and is the National Training Manager which involves designing and managing bespoke training courses for both the NHS and the private sector. Pam manages a team of trainers delivering courses in load management and people handling throughout the UK and conducts many complex assessments of both children and adults and assist the team of Work Fit trainers to do the same.
Pam has experience in facilitating meetings of many stakeholders in situations of potential conflict and has been involved in recent years in plans to integrate health and social care and the implications for training development and merger. Pam has led courses and strategies for introducing person centred care (sometimes termed single handed care).
Pam is often instructed as an Expert Witness in manual handling cases and have written many expert reports for both the claimant and the defendant.

Awarded Distinguished Service Award by CSP in 2017 for services to manual handling and private practice.

US Safe Patient Handling Conference
Pam was a presenter at the US Safe Patient Handling Conference in Florida in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 delivering sessions on dignity during manual handling tasks and the development of the HIT tool.
NBE Conference
Pam presented various workshops at NBE conference in 2005 and again in 2011, 2013 and 2021
Pam presented a session at NBE conference in 2012 on the integration of manual handling policy, training and risk assessment in a local council
Pam was a plenary speaker at NBE conference September 2018 entitled “Balanced Decision Making - where are we now?” and presented a practical workshop at the same conference about non abusive physical and psychological interventions for challenging behaviours
Pam was a plenary speaker and workshop facilitator at NBE conference September 2021

Pam presented concurrent sessions on the use of professional guidelines in 2010 at DLF conference Islington London and in Professional Roles and Responsibilities at the same conference in 2015
